After a busy few weeks at Dallas City Hall, this holiday-shortened week is light on meetings. The City Council won't meet, as they generally do not on any fifth Wednesday in a given month.
Wednesday instead marks the
. You may have already seen the devices around Downtown as part of what the City has called a "soft launch" over the past week.
The return comes after a years-long "pause" and overhaul of program regulations to address safety and limit the number of devices on our streets and sidewalks. DDI has been engaged with the City and other partners on the policy changes from the beginning.

On Thursday, both the City Plan Commission and the Park & Recreation Board are scheduled to meet, but with no items of specific impact on Downtown.
And, in case you missed it, last week the City Council the City Council voted unanimously to move forward with a plan to take down and trench Interstate 345, the elevated highway that runs between Downtown and Deep Ellum.

Here's a fun fact: The City of Dallas collects more than 50,000 tons of recyclable materials annually from single-family residential customers. But more than 26 percent of that is contaminated by things like plastic bags and shrink wrap, food, Styrofoam and more. That's why the City is doubling down on efforts to reduce contaminants, including removing recycling carts from repeat offenders and boosting public awareness. Read more.
