Good evening:

Around Dallas tomorrow, many people will be gearing up for the first meeting of Hanukkah and Christmas — aka Chrismukkah — in nearly 20 years (eggnog and latkes? Yes, please).

Around 1500 Marilla Street tomorrow, City Council members will be gearing up for virtual interviews with three remaining candidates for city manager beginning at 9 a.m. Monday.

T.C. Broadnax announced his resignation as Dallas city manager 43 weeks ago. But the leisurely search for his permanent successor took on new urgency in recent weeks, amid City Council infighting over the timeline and quality of outside candidates.

Behind closed doors, City Council members will interview interim City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert, Sacramento Assistant City Manager Mario Lara, and Fort Worth Assistant City Manager William Johnson, reports KERA’s Nathan Collins.

Following the interviews, members of the Ad Hoc Administrative Affairs Committee, led by Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins, are expected to “recommend a list of final candidates to be considered by city council.”

Finalists are expected to interview in person with City Council members on Monday, Jan. 13, following a weekend of community meetings around Dallas.

There are no other meetings of interest at Dallas City Hall this week because the Grinch can only do so much.

⚡ Highlights From Last Week’s Meetings of Interest:

— Some Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) board members remain hopeful for a resolution in coming weeks of a long-running funding dispute that led some cities to call for tax rate cuts. KERA reports on last week’s public board workshop. Another workshop is set for Jan. 8.

Thanks to DDI's Nikia Summerlin, Urban Planning Manager, for monitoring hours of meetings every week and contributing to these summaries.

đź“ť Memos of Interest:

— The journey from your Love Field Airport gate to your waiting Uber or Lyft is about to get much shorter, according to this memo. The “Transportation Network Center (TNC)” has been located in a faraway land known as Garage B since September 2023 to the “extreme dissatisfaction” of travelers. Starting Jan. 3, 2025, it is moving next to the existing valet area, just a six-minute walk from baggage claim (see map above).

— This update on City-supported transit-oriented developments notes the recently approved $49 million in incentives for a mixed-income, mixed-use West End development.
